Just about any water sport
you could desire is available around Merimbula. Fishing
fans are well catered for with boat hire, ramps and other
facilities. One of the most popular fishing spots is
the Merimbula wharf which provides deep sea fishing charters
which operate year round.
A short drive from the town
will take you to the beautiful Bournda
National Park,
while interesting excursions to the hinterland can be
made for bush and nature walks through ancient forests
in the foothills of the South
Coast Range. Small country
towns such as Candelo (famous for its artisans and craft
work), Kameruka and Wyndham, each steeped in pioneeering
history, are dotted along the many roads leading from
the heart of Merimbula.
Shopping is
a tourist's delight with many specialty shops with unique
crafts and souvenirs, an excellent range of food and
fashion outlets. Eating
out never gets boring with
a comprehensive range of cuisine to suit all tastes.
Seafood is
plentiful and features on most menus.
Accommodation is
widely available with all the usual facilities and comfort
you would expect. New accommodation developments are
surfacing which can give you the peace and beauty of
the Australian bush whilst still being within close distance
to beaches, lakes and the centre of town. You can choose
to stay right on the beach or lake or book into one of
the inviting motels on the higher side of town which
offer great views of Merimbula's scenic beauty. |
